In recent years, several treatments have been developed to boost the body’s natural production of collagen and improve the appearance and feel of skin. Whether you’re trying to reduce irregularities with the skin or are trying to look more youthful, there hundreds of treatments available that target different issues. One of the most popular treatments is the Active FX Fractional Laser.

The Active FX Fractional Laser aims to make skin appear tighter and more toned whilst reducing the noticeability of blemishes, scars, sunspots and other abnormalities.

What is Active FX Fractional Laser?

Active FX is a laser resurfacing treatment that penetrates the lower part of the collagen layer deep within the skin. It reduces fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and discoloration as well as other skin irregularities and improves the overall appearance and texture of the skin. It does this by stimulating the production of collagen- the body’s natural firming agent.

Mainly used to treat the face, neck and chest, Active FX Fractional Laser only penetrates some areas of the skin, leaving small amounts of skin untouched. This method still provides fantastic results and means that healing time is massively reduced.

What’s the procedure like?

After arriving at the clinic, a strong numbing agent is applied to the treatment area to relieve any pain and discomfort caused by the laser. When the anaesthetic has taken affect, goggles or eye patches will be placed over your eyes to protect them from the laser and the treatment will begin.

The treatment areas are then targeted by the laser one section at a time whilst cold air is blown onto them to minimize any discomfort. In most cases, the treatment only takes 7 minutes to complete and you can return home immediately after the procedure.

It’s common to experience the sensation of sunburn in the hours after treatment however, this should subside after 24 hours. Any pain or discomfort post treatment can usually be managed with aspirin and full results are noticeable after a maximum of 14 days.

In the days after the procedure, the top layer of skin will peel off revealing the firmer and more evenly toned skin underneath. Active FX Fractional Laser produces the same results as those created by chemical peels and other laser skin treatments.

What are the benefits of Active FX Fractional Laser?

Due to the fact that the laser only focuses on certain areas of the skin leaving some areas of the skin undamaged, recovery is much shorter than other laser treatments and chemical peels. Furthermore, because the recovery is so short, you can continue to use moisturizers and cosmetics soon after treatment.

As long as the treated skin is well protected from the sun by sun cream with a high SPF, the results created by the Active FX Fractional Laser can last between 5 and 6 months.

Collagen will be produced at an advanced rate in the months after treatment making your results more noticeable than in the first few weeks. Further sessions can also be carried out to maintain your results.
