Stretch Marks – Treating with Lux 1540 Laser

Stretch marks are something that a lot of people deal with and can make them feel very self-conscious, particularly about wearing more revealing clothing. Although stretch marks are a common side effect of pregnancy, they can actually affect both sexes and are often left behind after extreme weight loss.
Traditionally, stretch marks have been notoriously difficult to treat. A tummy tuck is often used to truck stretch marks but it’s not always 100% effective at getting rid of them. However there is a new form of treatment for getting rid of stretch marks that’s becoming increasingly popular.
The Lux 1540 laser is a fractional laser resurfacing treatment that can be used for treating a range of skin issues, such as sun damage, wrinkles and stretch marks. It’s a particularly appealing way to treat stretch marks since it’s non-invasive and comes with no downtime.
When treating stretch marks with the Lux 1540 laser, the treatments are usually done over a period of around a month. The amount of treatments required will depend on the individual patient and the severity of their stretch marks but generally 4-6 treatments is recommended for the best results.  Many patients have noticed dramatic improvements when having their stretch marks treated with the Lux 1540 laser.
What makes the Lux 1540 laser effective for treating stretch marks?
Although there are many creams marketed as stretch mark treatments, few if any are actually effective. What makes the 1540 laser effective at treating stretch marks is that it actually treats the surface of the skin and improves its appearance by increasing collagen and elastic fibres.
There are some stretch marks that fade on their own but more serious stretch marks can now be treated effectively using the Lux 1540 laser. For very serious stretch marks, it’s often preferable to perform a tummy tuck and then use the Lux 1540 laser to get rid of any remaining stretch marks that are still visible after the surgery.
